The slow road to democracy

Peregian Beach is current represented in the Sunshine Coast Council by one Councillor, Russell Green.

He will be running again for Councillor in Eastern Beaches -Division 11 of the Sunshine Coast Council in the up and coming Local Council Elections on April 28th.

Division 11 Candidate/s will address the PBCA meeting on April 15th.

The newly elected State Government should give local residents the opportunity to vote in a referendum to confirm if the Noosa community supports de-amalgamation in the near future.

If the local community support is in favour of Noosa re-establishing it's own council, there will be another election later in the year for a mayor and 6 councilors, requiring councilors from the former Division 11 & 12 to stand aside.

For more about the smaller council with focused values.

Did you crop Russell Greens photo at the Peregian originals to spell 'urinals' behind him? Keep them coming. I especially loved the Cinque Terre idea - the Junction takes me straight back there when I pass through!!!

    Nigel,
A little bit of vision and some passion about the place you live in can go along way. Have pride in the place you live and don't let the suburb sprawl swallow you up.
