Growing the Community Garden

Veggie Village in Peregian Beach has plans to expand.

The productive community garden, nestled along side a natural spring on the western corner of Di Hurst Oval has council permission for a 2nd stage to house a bulk composting system, communal orchard & food forest and more individual veggie patches.

A cricket pitch/oval has also been created recently on the marshy park area overlapping this plan.

Di Hurst Oval was original part of the wetlands that the girls hockey team was given permission to clear to make their field on.

The Council's 'Open Space Strategy' notes the Peregian Beach area is generally under provided for recreation parks.

This is certainy an area that could do with some good masterplanning sooner rather than later.
